Let's get that started ...
Fun stuff with R coming soon!
Disclaimer beforehand:
The analyses I'll present are not meant to be taken too seriously in a scientific way. I just wanna show what you can do with R as a programming language, basic statistics and different kinds of visualizations. Also, I'm not going to proofread my posts several times. So maybe sometimes my English is not too good, please excuse errors. Most of the time, the code can be realized in a more effective way - I know that. If you got any ideas, please let me know in the comments! I would be really happy to learn from you...

Sascha,
ReplyDeleteI just want to tell you this is a great blog. I really admire the things you can do in R, I am now just learning. I specially enjoy the ones about football. I am very interested to learn this topic about data analysis in this sport. I am a physics student from the Dominican Republic so I love baseball where there is a lot of data and Sabermetrics is a really big thing. Now I am into football and being a science student would like to see this sport in an objective way too.
I know that the data you get it from http://transfermarkt.com, but I am having some troubles getting the data. Even following the steps on the post "Soccer is all about money (?) – Part 1: Getting the Data". Can you explain a bit more how you do it and get the data frame euplayers? Do you have just in case any code to do this available online? Do you recommend any other books or article that talk about the subject? Do you recommend any other site where data might be accessible free?
Thank you for your time and help,
Manuel Pichardo
